A note from Laura

My decision to become a Mental Health Nurse was driven by a deep interest in people; I’ve always been drawn to understanding the human experience, especially the emotional and psychological challenges that so many of us face.

Through my work in both the NHS and private sector, I became increasingly aware of the limitations of the medical model, particularly its strong reliance on medication. While medication can be an important part of treatment, I often found that symptoms were being treated without addressing the root cause. And this realisation sparked a deep desire to offer more holistic and lasting change.

I wanted to find skills that would offer real support, not just by managing symptoms, but by helping people feel seen, understood, and empowered in their recovery. My journey led me to train in Reiki, EFT, breathwork facilitation and to become a Qigong teacher.

These traditional healing practices offered a more holistic approach to supporting emotional and physical wellbeing and address the deeper emotional imbalances that often underlie symptoms. Seeing the immediate changes that these approaches could offer strengthened my belief that real, sustainable healing happens when we work with both the body and the mind.

Hypnotherapy first entered my life when I used it to successfully stop smoking in a single session. The experience stayed with me, and years later, while exploring more integrative approaches to mental wellbeing, I discovered Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy, which became an important part of the work I do today.

Today, through Body-Aligned Mind, My work sits at the intersection of clinical mental health and integrative therapeutic approaches. I draw on my background in mental health nursing, therapeutic training and personal experience to offer an integrative approach that blends clinical understanding with mind-body methods.

It is a privilege to support people in reconnecting with themselves, helping them feel calmer, clearer and more confident about the direction of their lives.
